Meet Dr  Kumar Aditya—a distinguished Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon (CTVS) whose remarkable journey blends academic brilliance with surgical mastery, now bringing world-class cardiac care to the heart of Bihar at the prestigious Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC), Patna, where he serves as Assistant Director of CTVS.

Academic Excellence That Sets the Standard

Dr Aditya’s brilliance shone early—he secured 2nd rank in Jharkhand’s 10th board examinations (honoured by then Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani in 2002), qualified for the International Biology & Physics Olympiad (2003), and earned a National Talent Search scholarship. His surgical journey began with MBBS from Patna Medical College, followed by MS in General Surgery from Assam Medical College. In a crowning achievement, he secured the coveted All India Rank 1 in the fiercely competitive MCh (CTVS) entrance exam, training at G.B. Pant Institute (GIPMER), Delhi University under the mentorship of renowned surgeons including Padmashree Dr G.K. Mani at Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital, Saket.

After honing his skills at India’s premier cardiac centres in Delhi—including Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital and G.B. Pant Hospital—Dr Aditya made a conscious choice to return to his roots in Bihar. Since October 2023, he has been instrumental in elevating cardiac surgical standards at IGIC Patna, ensuring patients in Eastern India receive cutting-edge care without traveling far from home.

Beyond the operating theatre, Dr Aditya actively contributes to medical literature with multiple peer-reviewed publications on complex cardiac cases. He holds lifetime memberships in prestigious societies including the Association of Surgeons of India and the Indian Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
