In years gone by, the girls knew that there were better, more natural, more effective, yet inexpensive ways to achieve the same results, as the expensive products that you use today. Read our 9 natural beauty tips and fixes that the beauty industry would rather wish you didn’t know about:

1. Brighten up your knees and elbows

To soften up those rough patches on your elbows and knees, cut an orange in half and rub in. It will exfoliate and invigorate your skin, and nature even made it the right shape for the job.

2. The most natural way of wrinkle treatments

You can exercise your face just like you exercise any other part of your body. Here are some of the facial exercises: stick your tongue out as far as you can and hold it this way for 5 seconds, repeat 3 times; try moving your nose from one side to the other, do it for about 10 seconds, repeat couple of times; lightly press your 4 fingers down on your cheeks and smile as hard as possible, raising your cheek muscles against your fingers, it will help strengthen and lift your cheek muscles

3. Shine your hair with some egg and banana

Get a natural shine to your hair by mixing in your blender a mashed up banana with one egg, add 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil and massage it into your wet hair. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and then wash your hair as you usually would.

4. The simplest natural face masks

If you have dry skin, mash up a ripe avocado (optional: add a teaspoon of avocado oil) and use it as a face mask to rejuvenate and nourish your skin. If your skin is oily try mixing one tablespoon of white clay with water, add 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt and use it as a clarifying mask. Apply for 10 minutes, then rinse. For normal skin: mix plain yogurt with an oatmeal (with already soft oatmeal), apply on your face for 10 minutes and rinse, this mask will add softness and glow to your face.

5. Banana peel for your teeth

An old trick for teeth whitening was to use the peel of a banana. Rub the inside of a banana peel across your teeth, every night, for a couple of weeks and see the difference.

6. Cut out the soap

Some ladies of yesteryear never washed their faces with soap. Instead, they avoided all the harsh chemicals in soap, which only leads to you needing moisturiser afterwards anyway; they removed their makeup with olive oil (or coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil); just massage the oil into your skin for a minute or two and then remove it with a warm washcloth, rinse with warm, then cold water to close pores. Your skin will be clean, soft, glowing and nourished.

7. How to get shiny hair

Add shine to your hair by applying a few drops of coconut oil on the ends; be light handed, don’t apply too much oil on your hair to avoid greasiness. Your hair will be shinier and healthier.

8. Natural body scrub

To create a natural body scrub you have many options: you can mix olive oil with sugar, sea salt, coffee grounds or finely ground oatmeal;  massage your body with one of those while in the shower, it will help get rid of dead cells and make your skin softer, smoother and more glowing.

9. Natural loose powder

For long lasting, beautiful, matte finish, simply dust rice powder over your foundation, using a powder puff or a powder brush. It does exactly the same thing as your usual setting powder (it sets your makeup) and it’s all natural!

Note: Only, make sure that you aren’t allergic to it!
